Bits and bobs

Things that caught my eyes, inspired me, or just something I liked, simply.

Turkish embroidery. These were definately inspirational, love the colours.

A lot of things in the London Tube catches my eyes. Every station is different,
each of them seem to have some kind of a theme..
"TO THE TRAINS" @ covent garden. They have 193 stairs(I think)
and NO escaltors. So everyone queues up for the massive lifts!
It was like disney land, star tours, or something!

                                                                                      A fairy?

Old lovely books and beautiful shops at the good old Portobello Market.

The Design Museum in London. Exhibiting amazing fashion drawings and
magazine cover illustrations for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, etc. The location
of the museum is also great; by the river, Tower Bridge, The Hays Galleria..
Also exhibition by architect, John Pawson 'Plain Space'. This was great for inspiration too.

Cultural magazine, "Elephant" I found at Nottingham Contemporary.
Couldn't help taking a snap of the great cover! Obviously, magazines like this
costs too much for me... But I bought these ceramic buttons from Victoria & Albert .
Can't remember how long I took to pick these 4!!!

These, on the other hand, were FREE from the fabric store
at NTU. How amazing? Picked out colours I liked. I love camel.

The MA Project: Design Development

Things I've been doing recently..
Intergrating embroidery with the body and shape.

Georgia O'keeffe. My life time (so far) inspiration.

Digitalised O'Keeffe's image and stitched onto fake suede. Half size.

Different design stitched onto beaver wool.

Taking and cutting away the fabric and playing on the full size.
This is the fun part!

Subtle combination of colours. Like the idea but not quite sure if
this one worked.. but definately love the texture. Fine thread, tatami stitch
and the rough 起毛fabric.(ahaha~)

Simply cutting around the edge of part of the embroidery,
then tucking, folding, draping, wrapping, fitting, etc.
